Geoenvironmental practice refers to the integrated and multidisciplinary application of soil/rock mechanics, hydrology, and environmental sciences to manage mining rock and tailings safely and sustainably, focusing on the stability of engineered structures and protecting the surrounding communities and environments.  While a strong basis in technical understanding is necessary, it’s also important to have a deep understanding in the application of governance, management, and assurance systems necessary to achieve leading practice.
